MIT Rowing Club (MITRC) is a community-run, co-ed rowing club for members of the MIT community. During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, we offer rowing programs for beginners (Learn-To-Row), novices (<1 year of experience), recreational, and competitive rowers who participate in several regattas, including the Head of the Charles. We are always looking for coxswains! Coxswains are an integral part of the crew: they navigate the boat, strategically maneuver the course during races, and motivate the rowers. It is a challenging but fun task that requires focus, decisiveness, and a keen sense of responsibility.
No previous experience is required.
It’s free! Coxswains pay no club fees.

JOIN MITRC: STEP-BY-STEP
Check your eligibility. Eligibility for MITRC follows the MIT Club Sports eligibility policy. Unfortunately, this MIT policy disqualifies those whose only affiliation to MIT is employment at the Broad, Whitehead or Draper Lab. You should also know how to swim.
Non-students (eg. postdocs, staff, alumni) must show proof of DAPER membership. MIT students are automatically DAPER members.
Join our mailing list and stay tuned for new season announcements. Sign up emails are sent about a month before each seasons starts. MITRC runs three seasons:
Spring: 8 weeks in April-May
Summer: 10 weeks spanning mid-June to mid-August
Fall: 8 weeks in September-October
Fill out the official sign-up survey sent through the mailing list.
Attend the mandatory kick-off meeting on the first day of the season.
Register in the MIT club sports database.
Show up to practice on time.
