Fall Season!
29 August 2009
Welcome to those of you who are new to the MIT Rowing Club (or new to rowing in general) and welcome back to those who are returning! We are looking forward to a productive and fun fall season. Rowing this fall will last from Monday, September 7 through Friday, October 30 and is open to experienced rowers and complete novices alike. For those of you who have never rowed, we will offer all the necessary instruction and training needed to get out onto the water. We always need coxswains, so please contact is if you're interested in coxing!
To get started, everyone who would like to participate should fill out our fall survey and subscribe to the MITRC email list as soon as possible. A few things to note: in order to row you must either be an MIT student or have a valid DAPER membership if you are alumni, staff, faculty, or members of the community. All rowers under 21 must take the MIT boating test to demonstrate their swimming ability; rowers over 21 will sign a waiver stating that they are able to pass the boating test.
We will send more information out soon, but in the meantime please don't hesitate to contact us at mitrc.officers [at] mit.edu if you have any questions.

The MIT rowing club is getting ready for its summer session.. club members look for a survey to go out to the list soon. We will probably have coached sweeps (and maybe sculling) from 6-8 AM M-F. Generally, the emphasis of our summer rowing program is on fitness and technique, and several of our club members have learned to row the other side over the summer. We may compete in 1 or 2 regatta's, but we keep it low key.
Interested in joining? Whether you are an experienced oarsman/woman, you are welcome to join! Over the summer we are going to try to accomodate novices as well as experienced rowers, contact the officers at mitrc.officers@mit.edu for more details.
If you want to get a sculling card or take sculling lessons through DAPER, information can be found here: http://mitrecsports.com/crew/default.aspx
